Anisha and Tom booked a session for the beginning of June way back in December. I didn’t think much of the advance scheduling at the time, marked my calendar and didn’t think much of it again.

Until Anisha emailed me a few weeks before our shoot to reschedule. Then a few days later to reschedule again. Then something about something and we rescheduled again. This was getting a little trickier than I had initially thought, but fortunately, I was flexible enough on the days she wanted to shoot and we made the switches happen. Then Anisha’s tricky sister emailed me to reschedule again…

Hi Jackie,

I was writing to you in regards to an appointment you have booked with my twin sister Anisha on June 4th at 5pm.  If this is not you please forgive me as I am trying to assist my sister’s boyfriend in surprising her.

However, if you are the correct photographer I have a very special request to make of you which I hope you will be able to accommodate. My sister’s boyfriend, Tommy, wanted to surprise her with his engagement proposal during the photo session however, he wanted to select a weekend that our families would be able to join them after to celebrate.

If you are able to move the appointment…then the second request we have of you would be to call her and let her know that you were double booked and have to move her appointment.  We would have lied ourselves but there has been so many changes in dates that she may suspect something.  I know this is asking a lot but I know Anisha would love it and we would be so grateful!

Sincerely,
Ashley

So as one might imagine, I totally jumped up, did a backwards flip off my desk in my office, danced a happy jig and immediately called to change the date again with Anisha. The lucky little lady had NO IDEA what was about to happen when we started our regular ol’ portrait session at Chapman University in Orange with her regular ol’ boyfriend…

Anisha - OMG Jackie thanks again!!!!!! I was sooo surprised and looking at these pics are taking me back to the day .. I couldnt have asked for a better proposal!!!

Whenever I get an email that starts with: ‘I’m kind of obsessed, you are fab,’ I know that I’ve got a sender to keep around forever.

As is the case with Jenn. Before she even sent said email, I was already kind of obsessed with her. When she and her boyfriend, Jeff and her fabulous dog Sampson all walked up to me in the park a few weeks ago, her energy immediately refreshed me like water on the breeze on a hot, dry day. She was sweet and spunky and cute and funny and spending time with her was just the kind of Goodness I needed at the end of a long day.

Jeff and Sampson were cool too. :p

But really, it’s people like Jenn (and the people and dogs that hang out with her, duh) that remind me how flippin awesome life can be. If all people were a little more like Jenn, I might get so high on happiness, I’d float right up to the sky.

Not much office time this week to blog anything written well or with much intention. So! I figured I’d share some stuff that has recently inspired me…

Here’s a piece of art I bought from the amazing artist Bette McIntire last week at the Sawdust Art Festival in Laguna. It moved me. So I got it to hang on my wall to remind me every day to continue creating, continue loving, and to always keep sifting…
