Yesterday I shot a lovely little condo in Mission Viejo. It has been completely gutted and redone and even though condo’s typically aren’t my favorite places to envision a ‘place to call home,’ I was totally vibing on this place. I could see my kitchen table in the dining area and my big round black chair by the beautiful bay window.

The private patio and greenbelt view were really what sold me on it. Plus the street name. I mean, who isn’t attracted to daffodils?

If you’re interested in taking a peek, contact my rad client. He’s rad.

pharmacy tech - found your site on del.icio.us today and really liked it.. i bookmarked it and will be back to check it out some more later

Last weekend two of my pieces were hung in an art show at Goodfellas in Orange. The shop hosted a RAD party with tons of rad art on the walls in honor of their 10th anniversary. There were 9 contributing artists (including yours truly), two bands, a dj, a bangin’ bartender with complimentary beer, wine, cocktails, food, the fight on a tv outside, some live art, lots of cool merch for sale and just a general environment of super fun awesomeness hovering around the some 100 attendees. The super fly chick who runs the shop did a fantastic job of putting the whole thing together. Everyone had a great time.

Unfortunately, I was busy most of the evening completely enjoying myself and consequently did not take too many pictures. There are times in our lives when engaging fully in the moment and savoring the experience does not include using a camera. There are so many times when the experience itself is in creating images and I experience more fully and authentically while shooting…but there are so many other times when a $3000 camera in front of my face does not help me see better like it so often does…but rather, strips away from my experience. Sometimes I have to be a part of things not as a photographer. Sometimes I have to just be Jackie.

So with that being said, I chatted, I laughed, I hugged, I ate, I drank, I listened to good music, bobbed my head, talked about inspiration and art and what life means to me. It was a great way with great people at a great event to just be me.

So. Here’s a few images I shot of the art, my two pieces, my favorite piece (any lady in a green dress with a glass of wine is bound to be at the top of my list), and the music that moved me outside. Thanks for all of you who came. If you didn’t…wish you could have been there…

Jackie - haha, so much excitement i can’t even handle!

Some days I feel like hiding in my kitchen (my favorite room in my house) and drinking lattes and then wine and not going anywhere or doing anything but just staying and relaxing and enjoying my sweet poodle on my sweet couch (yes, I have a couch in my kitchen).

Other days I DOMINATE and get so much done I need like three more To-Do lists because the one in front of me is already all checked off and I could really rule the world if everyone would just start to listen to me.

Some days I want to go to a 9-5 job, surf the web without feeling guilty, take a lunch break with my work buddies, turn my computer off, leave the office and mentally check out from work until the next morning and get my sweet and steady paycheck every other week without batting an eye.

Other days I appreciate my freedom and while my paychecks are nothing close to steady and some months few and far between, I know the potential my career holds for me will pay off far greater than mentally checking out each evening ever could.

Some days I want to be told what to do.

Most days I love that I’m the only one in charge of me and that I can do anything I want. Like tell eight guys what to do and how to look GQ. Or rule the world. If only I could get everyone to listen…

Liz - I can’t wait to have that freedom Jacks. It is nice being able to check out from work every day and concentrate soley on me every evening, but I look forward to the day where I will work in my pajamas with my latte and work on what I WANT to work on and when I decide. I also picture us little photographers meeting for lunch once a week too 😉

B.Brady - Hi. Its me. I am here, checking in. And I am listening. Ok, thats it. You can continue. xxx

When I spoke to Kiana on the phone back in January, 45 minutes later when we hung up, I knew I wanted to shoot her wedding. On top of all the dedication and hard work Kiana puts into her family, work and school, she is a laid back and easy going gal who knows how to have a good time. Explaining the details of her wedding to me that day, I knew I had to be a part of her celebration.

And a celebration it was! The little details were lovely, the venue was uniquely designed and consequently fantastic for images, the food was delicious and the music was rockin…but beyond all the components that supposedly make up a great wedding…the energy from Kiana and JD and their family and friends was what made this event really special. Everyone was there to have a good time and celebrate the union of these two people they all loved so much. Because Kiana and JD do work really hard, and they really do deserve the best.

So I had to bust a move or two on the dance floor to show my support as well. As I said I knew months ago, I had to be a part of this celebration. And usually, that means more to me than just shooting.
