Maternity Photos in Long Beach

Marcus just started working at the Long Beach fire station No. 2 so what better location than the streets of LBC to document the pregnancy of his beautiful wife Katie. I love how these maternity photos turned out! So much joy in Katie and Marcus’ hearts, so much good energy circling around that beautiful bump…and so very much very good Light.

Thanks for an awesome sessions guys! Can’t way to meet baby Jayden in a few weeks!

Some days I feel bright and yellow and full of energy and light.

Some days I feel blue.

Some days I feel deep in gratitude and happiness.

Some days I feel stuck so low in a hole with no way to climb out.

Some days I feel powerful and wonderful and like this beautiful world is my fabulous oyster.

Other days I feel soggy and sad.

Life has it’s ups and downs and my God I’m going to try my hardest to remain grateful for the ride. It’s a beautiful ride. The lows help you appreciate the highs, and the darkness helps you really see the light. So with that, here’s to the Light. May we continue to look for it, may we always appreciate it and may we never forget it during the times it can be difficult to see.

“May you never steal, lie, or cheat, but if you must steal, then steal away my sorrows, and if you must lie, lie with me all the nights of my life, and if you must cheat, then please cheat death because I couldn’t live a day without you.”

Part of Jim’s vows left us all swooning during his stunning wedding with Tina last Saturday at the Island Hotel in Newport Beach. It was an elegant affair complete with spectacular florals, an exquisite sofreh, a fantastic dance party, so much love and the perfect amount of bling. This Persian wedding was for sure an event to remember!

Congratulations, Tina and Jim! Have so much fun in Italy! I can’t wait to share the rest of your images when you return.

A heartwarming note from one of my students turned fab photographer*:

So I cannot help but throw some mushy gushy on ya right now, my ever so talented friend & mentor…
So this image I’ve attached… for me, says EXACTLY where I’ve come in my photography journey thus far & it’s making me freak out {in a GOOD way}
Through your words of wisdom & technical teachings of manual shooting, I’ve arrived at this shot & I’m really excited where I will go from here. Here I’ve captured my ability to be patient. To wait.  To feel. To express what’s inside me, and only me. I recognized this pocket of light that, a few years ago I literally would’ve walked right on by it. Or, I wouldn’t have said it was right for a portrait.
Today I see the Light. I’m obsessed with dramatic light, pockets of light, & shadows. Obsessed with moody images. All these things I have absolutely feared in the past. I’ve also felt that all those elements were “wrong” for photography.
This image represents me speaking for myself as an artist.  It breaks rules in the best way possible.
You couldn’t be more spot-on that this is a journey. I never forget that you shared that with me. It absolutely IS and images like this make me grateful to have found the path to take the journey. Thank you for continuing to support & mentor me (my cheerleader!!)
A beautiful realization. An encouraging affirmation and hopefully a reminder to all that life is not so much about the destination, rather about the journey. And here’s one more thought: maybe the journey isn’t so much about becoming anything. Maybe it’s about unbecoming everything that isn’t you, so you can be who you were meant to be in the first place…
