before the sun

this morning i just needed to sit
and listen to the sounds of Life
rise up all around me

is it because i myself am low?
is it because today i rose weighted?

i watch the clean clouds shift into a soft melon, with the periwinkle sky winking through.

is that a promise?
a melody of sweetness to come?

there will always be better days and days that overcome the dark nights before

but what if i cant overcome the things ive done and who ive become? what if the negativity weighs me down to a lower me?

then i will rise up again. i will keep rising and continue to work with the weight, to carry it, or to free myself from it altogether.

for just like the sun, everyday, we are all called to Rise.

Fun Engagement Photos at Victoria Beach

Not every portrait session goes according to ‘plan.’ But what is that anyway? We plan and plan and Life comes in and does it Her way. Okay, okay, we’ll roll with it.

So as the rising tides at Victoria Beach rolled in and out, an hour was swept away before we could start our session. Krista and Andrew arrived with about 15 minutes before the sun slipped below the horizon. But the couple knocked it out of the park with their awesome attitudes, fun spirits and love for one another that shone bright even after the sun had gone down. We got some great stuff in the small amount of time we had and I reminded myself to be thankful for such great people to work with like Krista and Andrew.

And we all just rolled with it. We lost time, but we rocked the time we had. The waves came and soaked our legs, and we laughed. The sun sank and we kept shooting anyway. Life is just so so good, especially when you enjoy the unplanned rides.

Baby Photography at Home in Orange

Oh, Baby! Roselyn Marie shined for her newborn portraits last weekend and I’m so happy for the world to meet this darling little soul. She stayed awake for most of our shoot so there was lots of snuggle time and plenty of snacks, just how I like it. 🙂

Baby photography is always a fun time for me, as I get to hang out with the new babes and ask their parents all sorts of questions about parenthood. “We just met her,” Emily when we were talking about figuring out her new little girl. Well it’s nice to meet you too, Rosie.
