For those of you that have been following along since the beginning, you know that the writing content on this hear purdy little blog has had it’s moments. I’m an artist and a perfectionist on top of that, so I’m harder on myself than I probably should be. I just can’t fight the urge to want to improve!

Sometimes I forget I’m a blogger. It is just one of the very many hats I wear and I get caught up in the other roles that I lose sight of being really good at what I do here. And I do want to be a really good blogger. And that includes really good writing. In my book anyway.

So I’ll be filling up my book in the next few months with really good words, strung together to articulate really good thoughts, lined up in a way that provokes thought and sounds pretty while doing so. That’s my goal here. To make you think (good thoughts) and to sound good too.

Great writings to come!

Old Ranch Country Club Wedding

Marissa and Anthony both traveled to the States, separately, to pursue their studies. They both came from Indonesia. They both attended UCI. They both knew, separately, that they were destined for more.

The level of drive and dedication these two hold is remarkable. It was clear as stories of their history together were shared during the wedding ceremony and in the strength of their eye contact throughout the rest of the night. The couple has worked so hard to be where they’re at, both professionally and personally, and the evening was the perfect celebration of all their accomplishments.

I just love what I do. I love that I’m able to step into such intimate moments in people’s lives and help tell their stories. I shot this one with David for Full Spectrum Photography and without knowing much about Marissa and Anthony before, I left their Old Ranch wedding just feeling so blessed. And may many blessings be upon them as they continue on in their pursuits to rock their beautiful married life.

“The more you stay open, the more the [Good inner] energy flow can build. At some point, so much energy comes into you that it starts flowing out of you. You feel it as waves pouring off of you. You can actually feel it flowing off your hands, out your heart and through other energy centers. All these energy centers open, and a tremendous amount of energy starts flowing out of you. What is more, the energy affects other people. People can pick up on your energy and you’re feeding them with this flow. If you are willing to open even more, it never stops. You become a source of light for all those around you.

…The most important thing in your life is your inner energy…Learn to work with [it]. Through meditation, through awareness and willful efforts, you can learn to keep your centers open. You can do this by just relaxing and releasing. You can do this by not buying into the concept that there is anything worth closing over. Remember, if you love life, nothing is worth closing over. Nothing, ever, is worth closing your heart over.”

I’ve been really into the writings of Rumi lately. And while I’ve barely begun to scratch the surface ingesting his words and wisdom, I can’t help but be enamored and inspired by everything I read.

In organizing some files this morning, I came across this self portrait I took while shooting a Temecula wedding last month. It caused me to pause and reflect a moment on focusing on myself. The first few months of the year are typically slower than the rest and I’ve had plenty of time to organize the business, build, plan and do the same with various personal aspects of my life. This has included lots of Rumi reading. 🙂 It’s been a really good time.

So on this fine Friday I thought I’d share a sweet sentiment that I’m focusing on today. May you find yourself following your own pulls…

“Let yourself be silently drawn by the strange pull of what you really love. It will not lead you astray.” -Rumi
