For those of you in Southern California you know, it hasn’t felt much like fall here. Now I’m not complaining, not in the slightest. At this point in my life, I’m happy to report, I have no complaints. 🙂 I mean, how could one complain about a 75-85 degree fall?

But I can’t help but feel a little melancholy as I muse on a few things that have fallen this year: a couple of dreams, a tree I adored, a love, two important friendships. But I also can’t help but see reflections in the puddles of the mess, light bouncing back from the murky water and I know I’m moving forward as I’m meant to. I have no complaints. All is as it should be.

Peace. Purpose. Reflections in puddles. And 80 degree days in November. Life is good.

Long Beach Japanese Gardens Wedding

Mike twirled a lollipop anxiously in his fingers as Brian hung their coats. The energy was vibrant within the worn walls of the Queen Mary while the two grooms got themselves ready with their ‘bests,’ aka their five closest friends. The day marked their 22nd anniversary together as a couple, and how fitting that they celebrate with a wedding on their significant date.

What was most fitting was their custom tailored Italian suits! Wowwee these boys sure shined in those threads! We strolled around the ship for some portraits before the wedding at the Japanese Gardens. It was great to relax and laugh and enjoy the afternoon together. Or maybe that’s what the tequila was for? However it happened, Mike and Brian cruised through the day with ease and grace and I was so happy to see all the nerves vanish as they walked hand in hand upon the willow swept bridge to exchange their rings and vows. Happier to document it for them.

San Juan Capistrano Engagement Photos

When I asked Amy and Kyle to explain one another, a word they both used was ‘fun.’ And boy were they both right!

I met the cute couple in downtown San Juan Capistrano a few weeks ago for their engagement photos and we had insane amounts of fun in the few short hours we were together. I think sometimes you just click with people, because they’re your kinda people, and I’m so thankful to have run into such wonderful my kinda people like Amy and Kyle. I think they’re more thankful to have run into one another, but let’s pretend they’re just as stoked on their wedding photographer as their wedding photographer is on them. 😉

Truly though, these two are magic together. They just shine brighter side by side and the light in Amy’s eyes when she looks at Kyle was more spectacular that evening than any sunset we could have gotten. Thanks for sharing your awesomeness with me and my camera, guys. Can’t wait for the more fun to come!

Japanese Gardens Wedding – Long Beach

Michael and Brian officially tied the knot this weekend, surrounded by their sincerest and dearest amongst the incredible Japanese Gardens where their relationship blossomed over 22 years ago. It was a coming-full-circle celebration on many levels.

We started the day getting ready on the Queen Mary and slipped over to the Gardens to seal the deal as the sun sank between the beaming bamboo and weeping willows. It was a pure joy for all in attendance to celebrate with all the beauty that is Mike and Brian. Here’s a quick teaser from the day for now…plenty More to come…

Orange Photographer

Bright bulbs light my morning as I rise before the sun. So much to do, so little time, I wonder how I’ll ever get done. But life is a process right, about the journey not the destination. So I remind myself to keep on keeping on, move forward continue and remember to keep having fun.
