Engagement Party at the Muck
Colleen slid into the cafe with red lips and a top knot, and I knew this date was going to be a good one. We talked about her new business, Little Lover Events, weddings, planning, mutual friends, and doing more with our work. ‘We should do a styled shoot together,’ she said as her sparkling blue eyes lit up and I immediately agreed.
It seemed fitting as I sipped my warm chai tea that we start scheming a colorful tea party, an ‘unbirthday’ party turning into a surprise engagement proposal as it developed. She had gold china and oranges and magentas and a soft little blue in her head, and I had pearls and tulle in mine. We called up the best wedding professionals we knew and started planning the party.
And what a party it was! Roarke and Megan got all dolled up and had a ball dining with amazing tastes from Colette’s Catering on the most gorgeous china from Dish Wish. The Pink Daffodil obviously beautified the whole thing with stunning floral design and every corner of The Muckenthaler Mansion was enchanting. It was all from Colleen’s vision though, and I was overjoyed to get to work on such a creation with such talented artists (full vendor list to check below!).

Costa Mesa Wedding Photography at the Wyndham Hotel
Megan and Josh’s day was full of emotions, sentimental details, tears, laughter and thankfulness. Megan and Josh are not the type to take things for granted and it was easy to see as they cherished every moment throughout the day. It was in the tears in their eyes. It was in the strength of their embrace. It was in the understanding of their glances as they moved graciously about their guests.
It’s always so refreshing to see people who care. In a world where so much is left undone and unsaid and abandoned, it’s lovely to come across a pair who clearly value the important things. And that is totally Megan and Josh. I’m a better person for having spent that day with them… seeing Megan’s mom and sister beam at her as she dressed in her gown, hearing Josh say ‘wow’ as he was blown away by his bride walking down the aisle, or watching the tearful hugs after the ceremony between Megan, Josh and his dad… it was special and wonderful and I appreciate it so much because of who Megan and Josh are.
