*This is totally a sploof, by the way (spelled just like that). I came across that post and got a good chuckle out of it and thought you might too. I’m not trying to make fun of anyone for having done stuff like this, nor offend, just wanted to share some humor. For those really planning engagement photos, remember to just be yourselves and have FUN. After all, that’s what this beautiful time is all about. 🙂

Boudoir Photos in Orange

I asked Lauren a long time ago if she’d be interested in boudoir pictures and she politely put me off. Then at the beginning of this year she was ready to do something for herself, to treat herself, to have fun and be free for herself. So we booked boudoir pictures for her birthday and the day couldn’t come soon enough.

It finally did and we sipped pink champagne and talked about life and fashion and things we love as we shot. We laughed. We danced. And we created some awesome images as the light wrapped itself around her curves and teased her golden strands. Cheers to you, Lauren. You are uh-mazing!

Orange County Private Estate Wedding

It was a beautiful spring Saturday and sweet scents of rose and hyacinth filled the yard. The sun was peeking over the palms as the tables were set and people started to filter in. Enchantment seated itself on the chairs as magic skipped on the breeze.

Inside, Phillip and Steve were getting shined up. They tenderly helped one another with their coats and cufflinks. They chuckled together nervously. They took deep breaths. They were ready to commit to one another in front of all their friends and family, to seal the deal on the commitment they made long ago.

During the ceremony they stood under the pergola in the backyard of the home they created together, and Phillip read from a list he had written two decades ago. A list he had written before meeting Steve that explained the perfect man; a list that explained Steve. Tears of joy fell from Steve’s eyes as he looked into his partners eyes and their union was made official by the State of California.

The two laughed and laughed all night long as they celebrated their marriage. They closed their eyes in bliss as they spun around the dance floor. Beautiful sentiments were shared as everyone clinked their glasses to Phillip and Steve, partners whose love is deep, whose commitment is solid, and whose union that sunny Saturday was pure magic.

Nick’s family is a very special one to me. So when they put in a special request for me to head up to Big Bear to shoot their snow loving dude for his senior portraits, I jumped on it. Nick spends a lot of time on that mountain and winter sports are a big part of who he is, so I was stoked to capture that for them.

I met Nick and his dad at the bottom of the hill just as the sun rose one Saturday morning a few weeks back. We hunted slivers of sunlight between pockets of snow in the crevices of the mountainside. We fought icy wind and frozen fingers. We saved a dog. We threw snowballs under the sun by the lake. We laughed the whole way.

The whole time I kept thinking a, how much I love what I do, b, how much I love this family, and c, how I really need to keep gloves in my camera bag at.all.times.
