Last week I went with a few friends to Scott’s Restaurant and Bar in Costa Mesa for a fashion show. My friend’s hair dude designed all the hair for it…and I think any opportunity to get out and see some art is an opportunity I’d like to take.
So on outings such as these, I typically don’t bring my gear with me. A friend just said to me today, ‘it must be nice to have your work be your hobby too,’ to which I responded ‘unfortunately the work takes a lot of the hobby out of it.’ Sometimes I just want to go have a good time without 25 pounds of gear in my shoulder. You know.
This time though, I did take my new little sidekick, the Canon G10 that I swiped off craigslist a few weeks ago. I’m in love. It’s a brilliant little camera that fits in my purse and is capable of taking some amazing photographs with fabulous quality. Canon has it’s successors, the G11 and G12 out already. But I found a good deal on this used baby and decided to take advantage and use her myself!
So I still have some kinks to work out…mainly…my personal speed at operation. I missed a lot, and wasn’t too thrilled with my settings…but I think maybe the dress I was wearing and perhaps the drink in my hand contributed to the lack of swiftness with this new piece of equipment. So. It is what it is: my first outing with my new G10. Much more to come.
Big ups to Stephen Mendelson at Studio C Salon in Irvine. Your design rocked this show.
