to get back on…the circus train…

As some of you may know, the circus was just in town. I had the distinct honor (and pleasure) of entertaining two clowns while they were in town. Yes, I said it. Two clowns were at my house for two weeks and I entertained them.

How might one entertain clowns, one might ask? Well, I’m still trying to figure that out. But I think it’s safe to say they had themselves a good time here in Orange.

But what’s even more apt to say is that I had myself a good time getting to know these two dudes and the lives they lead. I mean, c’mon, they live on a train that’s a mile long. They wear more make-up than me. They perform in over 700 shows in less than 300 days and do flips and tricks and all sorts of crazy gimmicks all day long…in and out of the circus rings. They’re non-stop fun and the best part is…they’re really good guys underneath it all. They’re gone now, and I’m feelin’ the miss factor. Major.

So I thought I’d share some really rad lyrics from a really rad band that remind me of these really rad dudes…(along with some really rad portraits by a really rad photographer, cause every story goes better with visual aids, duh)…

when I jumped off, I had a bucket full of thoughts

when I first jumped off, I held that bucket in my hand

ideas that would take me all around the world

I stood and watched the smoke behind the mountain curl

it took me a long time to get back on the train

now I’m gone and I’ll never look back again

I turn my face into the howlin’ wind

it took me a long time to get back on the train

I left it all behind, again I’ll travel far

it took me a long time to get back on the train
