History of Photography

How can you know where you’re going if you don’t know where you came from? So many photographers in the industry today just picked up a camera and started shooting. There’s nothing wrong with that, especially when they’re shooting good shit! But what about everyone and everything that came before us…do you even know how photography was born and all that it worked through to get where it is today?

I am honored to be a part of the Cypress College Photo Department faculty and distinctly proud to work beside the man that’s teaching History and Aesthetics of Photography this coming fall semester. The course discusses the role of visual images prior to photography, early photographic techniques and processes, through the importance of the decisive moment. It emphasizes the invention and development of photography from its inception in the early 1800s through 1970 into today.

Sign up for it. Learn from the past. It’ll help you press forward more awesomely to your future. And so will becoming a part of our photo community too. 🙂
