Amila and Stu’s love story started seven years ago, when they met as teenagers under a crisp fall sky. It was a different time then, they both had studies to finish and dreams to still develop. But they knew right away they wanted to get going on it all together.

And here they are, all grown up and ready to keep doing it together, but now as husband and wife. They got engaged earlier this year and their bestest friends and family gathered last Saturday to celebrate the knot we all knew eventually they would tie.

Cheers to Amila and Stuey!

Destination Wedding in Oregon

We awoke to birds singing in the distance and crisp air rustling in the trees. The sun danced gently between the branches, kissing the fresh ground beneath us, whispering, “It’s time to wake up now. Today’s the day.” We slowly emerged from our cabins and tents to get ready.

Jeremy and Autumn went through the motions. Coffee. Shower. Suit. Make-up. Tie. Gown. It seemed surreal that all the work they had put in was over with, and their wedding day had finally come. It was a race to the finish line, the walk down that aisle, and when that moment came, everything else melted away. Their eyes locked. Their heart rates tempered. Together forever started now.

And for the rest of us, the start of Mr. and Mrs. Bizon was a celebration we’ll never forget. We admired the details, savored the dinner and loved laughing and dancing as the day turned into night. It was a destination wedding in the Oregon woods that we would relive again and again if we could. Thank God for photos…

Watch Uffizi Drive me to Firenze?

Italia 2016. Day Two.

We woke up to fresh Florence air coming through the open window in our little bungalow, three twins in a row. Skipped coffee in our private garden and quickly set to the streets to get our roasting man his first Italian cup. We landed at La Boite, a darling little corner cafe with cool art on the walls, enough quiet for concentration and a rad barista that made us a few mean cups. Yes, we all went back for seconds…

After our caffeine was fixed, we headed east to see David. We were tempted to call it quits when we realized we had to wait in line, despite our reservation. We dislike tours, tourists and tourism greatly. Literally all three of us wanted to abort the mission but no one said anything. Fortunately, our reservations paid off and the wait was just a few minutes (tip: make reservations when you go to see David at the Galleria dell’Accademia. so worth it.). Really he was breathtaking. Words can’t describe it; photos can’t relay it. You have to go. All of the art was incredible, including the watercolors the exquisite painter created on the sidewalk outside.  How are all Italians so interesting looking and well dressed? Sigh.

Lots of sighing. People watching. Stops for food. A stop outside the Duomo for a fling with Filippo. Some magic. More food. Wine. More walking. And a whole lot of amazing Italians who inspired me to be a little bit more mindful, and to savor each decision and each moment of my day.

Marc McNaughton - Good Lord, Jackie, looks like you were there about two and a half weeks after me! Small world!

    Hope you’re well and happy.
