Last night I shot event photos at the OC WordPress Group Meetup at Zeek Interactive in Huntington. Yawn? Quite the contrary! It was a fun evening connecting with cool people and learning new things, all while throwing back a few beers.

The WordPress meetup in Orange County is more than just the normal [bland] networking based meetup you might think it is. You walk in a stranger, are greeted with smiles and easy conversation (and a beer if you like!), and you walk out not only knowing more, but are warmly considered a friend. Steve Zehngut and Jeff Turner have created a wonderful and giving WordPress community that continues to grow and nurture others on so many levels. It’s a comfortable place to commune and gather tips and tools to develop on your own.

Mostly I just liked how much fun everyone was having. There was a football getting tossed around, jokes shared, hugs passed and laughter the whole way through. It’s just an easy space to Meetup and learn. One of the speakers, Kelly Koehler, was shoeless. If that’s not awesome and comfy, I don’t know what is.

Anyway, go for a visit next month if you’re so inclined. I know I’m looking forward to going back and working more with these guys. Thanks for a great night at Zeek!

diane - Nice shots .. Great Memories!

I’m not really sure how to describe Mariana Bell, other than in a few short experiences.

I first met her in her home, invited as a ‘plus 1’ to a small dinner party she was hosting with her boyfriend. Bell greeted me, the new girl, with a huge smile and warm embrace. She laughed honestly, talked openly, and shared freely. Conversation was engaging and fun. The food was spectacular and Bell rocked the hostess posish with a simple but elegant evening I’ll never forget.

Then a few weeks later, I heard her perform and I was totally moved. The woman’s got some pipes, in a serene and smells-like-home kinda way. Her voice is similar to her personality: sincere, attractive and flowing with such a dynamic range, you can’t help but feel compelled to be more dynamic yourself.

Shortly thereafter, I fell in love with her second album, Push. The lyrics are, again, much like Bell herself: honest, open, and palpable to the point that she makes it easy to want to fall in love again, no matter how many times you may have been hurt before.

I was totally stoked when I found out Bell would be playing at South by Southwest this past weekend when I was also to be in Austin. I made no set plans that date, except to be at her show. Because with a woman like Mariana Bell, any chance to know her a little better seems it might present a chance to better yourself as well.

Bell’s song, Balloon has been nominated for the Adult Contemporary song award for the 11th Annual Independent Music Awards. Vote for her here!

Lauren - WOW! She really has a beautiful voice! Love love LOVE her style!

I’ve always said that Southern California has the best weather in the world. And still for the most part, I think it does.

Sometimes I wonder what else it is about SoCal that draws so many people here. I mean, the cost of living is so high. The traffic is intense. There’s just so many people, we seem to be crammed into each other with thin walls and barely a few feet between them. We’re locked in and guided by concrete and roads and rules and taxes and regulations. Some of us get snotty. A lot of us get tans and boobs and flashy cars, because we’re supposed to be beautiful. There’s just so many of us and so much pressure!

But here we are. Taking advantage of the mild weather and smiling in the sunshine. Honestly, I’m here because my family is here. I’m here because after a move to the midwest in high school, I wanted to stay here for college and thus my network began to build. Then my business. And there’s so much opportunity here, I feel the world is at my fingertips. I feel like owning a piece of property in this beautiful state could be close to owning a piece of Heaven. I feel like despite the high cost of living/working, if I can make it here, I can make it anywhere.

Why are you here?

Pictured is a lovely property in San Clemente for Dave Redderson’s real estate pictures for MLS…to give you a glimpse inside how lovely SoCal living can be. 🙂

Lovato Images work was featured on The Disney Wedding Blog! How exciting!

It’s too bad I wasn’t notified when this fabulous feature was posted a few months ago, but it was just brought to my attention and I still just had to share! One, because The Disney Wedding Blog is awesome. And two, because Miguel and Mary are super awesome! And three, cause why not just share some of the sharing awesome, right?!

Yay for sharing! Yay for awesome clients! Yay for the happiest place on earth!

Accountants Lady - Congratulations to you! That’s a brilliant promo!

Life is all about development, expansion and growth, right? I mean…it’s about so many other things too…love…prayer…the pursuit of happiness…family…God…career…good food if you’re asking me 😛 but I think the first three should be wrapped around everything else. Right?

I personally place great importance on: my family, my relationship with the Creator, Creation, Chloe, friends, personal development, integrity, my business, career, my craft, artistic expression, my experiences sharing good things with good people, and so many other things. But those were the first that came to mind and honestly, developing, expanding and growing around and within all of these things I value most remains in focus at all times.

So I’m going to be working on all that this week. I’ve taken off to the great state of Texas to specifically focus on some business development, creative expansion and personal growth. I look forward to sharing some of what I find.
