I think women are most sexy when they’re comfortable. She could be wearing a suit strolling through downtown San Francisco. She could be barefooted cooking in her kitchen. She could be walking in her yoga pants, sweaty at the gym. She needn’t be half naked in her bed. To me, sexy is confidence and comfortability and casual knowledge. She knows she’s sexy and doesn’t have to try. And that’s the sexiest of all.
When I get a woman into the bedroom for a portrait session, I’m keenly aware of her comfort level. It can be hard taking off your clothing, especially in broad day light in front of a camera. Most often we start slow. Whatever she wants. Whatever she’s comfortable with. And we progress from there.
And as we progress, always, her confidence grows. She gets more and more comfortable and she casually becomes aware of just how beautiful she is. She doesn’t try. She just is. And that is just so damn sexy.

1. Fiona is fabulous.
2. I was honored with the task of shooting it so duh, I’m naturally excited for a naturally exciting event to document!
3. I always love baptisms and all they represent. I got a little teary during the service, I’m not gonna lie.
4. Fiona is fabulous.
5. It was at the Serra Chapel in the Mission in San Juan. Being in that dark chapel was a special treat! A long slender room that is mystically dark yet bursting with brightness behind the altar. Amazing. Such a cool experience to witness a baptism and shoot in there.
6. Growing up I played volleyball with Meghan, Fiona’s aunt and shot her other aunt Katie’s wedding a few years ago. So I’ve known this family for years and adore every moment I get to spend with them, especially milestones such as this.

pin to tweet on email toYesterday was “National Margarita Day” and I spent the afternoon doing what I love: working outside with three fabulous people, documenting a love story in the making.
Partially because of the “holiday” but mostly because we’re just awesome, my awesome assistant and I met Christine and Ben in beautiful downtown Laguna to start the engagement session* off right: with a few drinks.
We talked. We laughed. They snuggled. (Awesome assistant) Aubrey and I loved…every second of it. This really is the good life, I thought as I read Aubz’ FB post last night getting into bed.
So when life throws you lemons, make lemonade! Or, order a margarita ’cause that tends to work too. But I think the important thing to keep in mind today is that LIFE.IS.GOOD. Bumps and blocks and humps and hurdles are bound to get in our way, but overall, the sun keeps shining, work keeps us trying and we all have much to be thankful for.
