Peter’s Canyon Maternity Portraits – Erin, Jeff, Hank and Louie

By the time Erin and Jeff met me for her maternity portrait session, the lovely little lady was ready to pop. I didn’t know it though! Look how tiny she looks!

Erin was a little unsure of the camera at first, as many people tend to be (so don’t worry if you’re camera shy, you’re not alone!). But Jeff and then Hank and Louie joined in on the action and the more we all went along together, you could see the stress just slip away.

I can only imagine how hard it must be for women who are pounds and pounds heavier than they’re used to, with a whole new body, to stand in front of a camera and feel great. I mean, the miracle of child birth is a beautiful thing, and I hope that every woman can appreciate that and feel it as she goes through it. But I am a woman. And I know how difficult it can be to look in the mirror and feel great about your body. So mad props and cheers to all the preggers out there who walk around proud. You should be. And after a few minutes into our session, Erin really was.

She really was ready to pop though; she had her baby two weeks after our shoot and I’m excited to meet the little guy! For now, here’s Erin in all her pregnant awesomeness. Jeff, her husband, and Hank and Louie, her two other kids. 🙂

The Beauty of My Job | Amanda and Matt | Laguna Beach Wedding

So Amanda and Matt were married in July overlooking the waves from Laguna’s Heisler Park. I realize now looking back that I didn’t blog the entirety of their day; I realize now looking back I didn’t take time to sit and reflect on the beauty of these two and their day.

Amanda and Matt are two that have been through their share of troubles, as have we all. They’ve pulled through, as we often are able to do, and have come together stronger and wiser and better together than they could have ever imagined before. Sometimes they look at one another with such a conscious canny that wraps this warm peaceful feeling around and you just know, this couple is the real deal.

And then they laugh. They laugh so good. Their laughter is continuous, contagious, and constantly refreshing to the ears. To the soul. And you just know. This couple is the real deal.

So sitting, reflecting on who they are and what their day was all about, here nearly five months later, I’m just happy. Wedding album design (seen below) is done and submitted, prints for Christmas gifts are in and delivered and my job is pretty much done. But I think part of the beauty of my “job” is the ability to sit and think and appreciate the beauty of the people I get to work with and all of their awesomeness that rubs off for me.

The best meals are the ones you share with good people, engaged in good conversation, paired with good wine. I am one of the luckiest girls in the world, because I have the best meals constantly.

I love Thanksgiving because it is a time to count your blessings, pause for a moment and reflect on all that you have to be thankful for. Aaaaand to have one of the best meals of the year. 😛

It’s times like these when I slow down and think about all the richness in my life, and I become overwhelmed by the abundance of Goodness that surrounds me. Beyond the best meals ever, I am totally bested with love, support, and friggin fabulousness from so many wonderful people in my life.

So today I’d like to specify my thankfulness for the times I’m able to sit down and dine with you. Because good food and conversation paired with you fabulous people is really what gets me through this. So let’s all eat, drink and be merry today, and again and again together.

And thank you. THANK YOU.

Fall Infused Fun | Orange Portraits

I had the pleasure of working with Jenn (and Sampson and Jeff!) earlier this year and to say I was fired up by her awesome personality would be an understatement. So when she emailed me again a few months ago about this group portrait session with her co-workers, I was thrilled at the opportunity to not only work with this lady again, but to work with the women she works with too.

Aaaaand just as I had anticipated, walking up to the group on Sunday was just as exciting as I knew it would be. Seriously Jenn is just a ball of energy and ideas and spunk and fun and one can’t help but be enthused in her presence. So I don’t know if this group of women is always this fabulous, or if Jenn’s energy rubs off on them, but either way, everyone was super fab.

Jenn had created an inspiration board to style and outfit the entire group, down to the last necklace, curl and ring. So on top of the awesome attitudes of all the women, they looked uh-mazing. I’m like, Jenn, can you style all of my portrait sessions, please? K, thanks.

So just in time for Thanksgiving, this warm, fall infused shoot reminds me to send Up a note of thanks for all the perks of my job, especially for time with awesome people like these.
