It was the night before my shoot with Emalani and I lay on my bed reading, thinking, planning. Always planning.
I called my roommate in and asked “Where should we shoot tomorrow? I’ve shot this little girl every year and then some since she was six months old, and I want something different.” We hadn’t yet picked a location because we were standing by for potential rain delay.
So my roommate and I chatted a bit and she finally suggested the Discovery Science Center in Santa Ana. “Perfect!” I breathed with wide eyes.
And it was indeed perfect! The bright colors and interesting little installations outside the Science Center made for some diverse backgrounds and inquisitive interactions for Emalani. And as usual, she was a beautiful little ball of energy and excitement. Every time I get to photograph this little girl I come to love her more. She’s darling yet daring and totally determined…to do whatever she pleases; I’ve so enjoyed documenting her development.
