How can you know where you’re going if you don’t know where you came from? So many photographers in the industry today just picked up a camera and started shooting. There’s nothing wrong with that, especially when they’re shooting good shit! But what about everyone and everything that came before us…do you even know how photography was born and all that it worked through to get where it is today?

I am honored to be a part of the Cypress College Photo Department faculty and distinctly proud to work beside the man that’s teaching History and Aesthetics of Photography this coming fall semester. The course discusses the role of visual images prior to photography, early photographic techniques and processes, through the importance of the decisive moment. It emphasizes the invention and development of photography from its inception in the early 1800s through 1970 into today.

Sign up for it. Learn from the past. It’ll help you press forward more awesomely to your future. And so will becoming a part of our photo community too. 🙂

Rosie’s first birthday was a spring fling to remember! The one year old hosted the most fun party (for one year olds) I’ve ever been too. Seriously.

As much as the fun decorations, bunny stop (complete with bunny tails and ears!), good food and great people played a part, I have to give a major shout out to The Beat Buds. The music duo entertained and educated the kids through singing, dancing and playing instruments. Their energy was awesome and it was really entertaining to watch them but also witness how engaged the kids were.

So props to Rosie’s parents, family and friends for being a part of the greatest first birthday party ever! 🙂

Engagement Proposal Photography

Scott got the ring. A dainty band with seven beautiful stones, vintage, handed down from his grandmother. As it started burning a hole in his pocket, he emailed me. Photos. A question that catches her by surprise. The front yard where they first said ‘I love you.’

I met his friends there the following Sunday. I got in position. They arrived, he got down on one knee, and asked the love of his life to be with him forever. They hugged. Kissed. She cried…along with all of us watching from the window (glad I didn’t wear make up to this one). She said yes! The proposal was perfect. Job well done, Scott. 🙂

Congratulations to Scott and Alison! May the memories of these beautiful moments stay with you always.
