I made a post on Facebook yesterday about how I ‘shoot people.’ And then that I also ‘shoot houses.’ I got some funny feedback that made me chuckle. I love Facebook. I just set up a business page there, by the way. You should like it.

Anyway! The moral of this story is that I’m into all kinds of shooting! I primarily shoot portraits, weddings/events and real estate, as you can see. And that’s all Lovato Images awesomeness. Sometimes though! I shoot for other awesome people and their bangin’ businesses…and in the last year I’ve shot quite a bit for the ever awesome Mission Visual. Yeah I said it, I shoot video too!

Here’s a wedding I did with them back in December. Totes gorge, right?!

I love my job.

rinku mathew - Thanks Jackie. I just checked out some of their other wedding videos. Good stuff. I’ll recommend them to my friends.

I’m in the process of reorganizing my website, yet again. With such a craft as mine, I’m constantly needing to update my site, as it’s my online portfolio and my portfolio keeps changing. This is good in many ways, as it illustrates my growth and development and allows prospective clients and contacts to view my latest and greatest work. It is a hassle in many ways too though, as it forces me to comb through my archive and reformat and restructure and just adds to my already heavily weighted to-do list.

But that’s okay! Change is good! And change should be documented!

One thing I’d like to change is how much real estate I shoot. I have a great client list that are active with their listings which keeps me happily active with shooting. However! One of my goals this year is to gain 10 new realtor clients. So! Real estate section of my site is comin’ at ya with a ton of new material! I’m thinking about creating a separate site for my corporate work (real estate, product, etc) but haven’t decided quite yet…processing, processing…

So for your eye feasting pleasure this morning, here are some images from my current online portfolio that are in contention to make the cut to stay. They’re such beautiful properties. I’m so lucky I get to explore the beautiful homes of Orange County with such great clients working by my side.

But gimme some mo!

Their wedding website was gregda.com (with some /wedding or something in there somewhere). So I immediately started calling Greg and Egda, Gregda. I’m all about the shortening of words, abbreving if you will…and this was one abbreve I couldn’t pass. Gregda. It just sounds better.

So Gregda celebrated their wedding with almost 300 guests on the beautiful, secluded beach of Iguana in Nicaragua last Saturday. The sun set as they were blessed in front of their friends and family. Fireworks lit up the night sky to start their party. I was honored and humbled to be a part of such a gorgeous celebration…

Humans are alive for the purpose of journey, a kind of three-act structure. They are born and spend several years discovering themselves and the world, then plod through a long middle in which they are compelled to search for a mate and reproduce and also create stability out of natural instability, and then they find themselves at an ending that seems to be designed for reflection… we [are essentially] designed to search for and find something. And he wondered out loud if the point wasn’t the search but the transformation the search creates.‘ -Donald Miller

I believe reflection is for all ages and stages and transformation for good is the purpose. It’s my purpose anyway.

When I travel to new lands, I’m able to let go of stability and let myself get comfortable uncertainty. I’m constantly searching in new ways. Where will we sleep? What will we eat? What will we do? How will we communicate? I’m constantly transforming from my norm. Sometimes I get lost. Sometimes I get sick. Most times I get dirty. Most times I just don’t know. And I let myself be okay with that.

For within the unknown, there is realization. For beyond the knowledge, there is growth. For in all the searching, there is transformation. And I’m wonderfully okay with that.

Travel can be a kind of monasticism on the move: On the road, we often live more simply, with no more possessions than we can carry, and surrendering to chance. This is what Camus meant when he said that ‘what gives value to travel is fear’ – disruption (or emancipation) from circumstances, and all the habits behind which we hide.” -Pico Lyer

Out of the country for awhile. Simply living. Simply loving. Surrendering to chance and change and everything between.
