my friend called me last week and said ‘wanna go to home depot with me?’
i had some returns to do there, so i quickly agreed.
i returned my stuff. then we got a sledge hammer.
then we took it to a desk.
apparently we both had some rage we needed to get out. mainly it was just the desk that needed to be out.
now i have a ton of fire wood. anyone wanna come over for a bonfire?

Dave has been a fabulous client of mine for some years now, but I had never shot a portrait session with his family. So last year when I met them for the first time when Santa came to their house, I knew I had to get this group together in front of my camera. His boys are just too cute!
So on a beautifully gloomy morning a few weekends ago, we finally made it happen. Dave’s wife Dava was exceptionally lovely surrounded by all her boys and their family dynamic made my heels itch for kids. Don’t worry…we’re still going to wait quite awhile for that for me. But it was just so fun chatting with the kids and taking in their energy.
I always enjoy working with kids because their energy and enthusiasm is so refreshing. It’s always such a thrill to listen to their perspective on things and to try to incorporate a bit of it into my own. I hope this continues throughout my life. So while I don’t have kids of my own…I’ll just borrow everyone else’s for now…

Marissa is a musician. She plays guitar, marimba, piano, uke, and drums as well as writes lyrics. She is in the jazz band, drum line and marching band. She sings to her steering wheel and makes music all the time.
Marissa is a friend. She enjoys hanging out with her friends more than most things and has four best friends who know everything about her that she would do anything for anytime.
Marissa is a giver. She is involved in her church’s youth group. She loves openly. She laughs freely. And she donates her time to those that need her more often than even she’s able to comprehend.
She enters her senior year of high school with confidence and drive. She looks to the future with faith and frugality. She has ideas. Hopes. Desires. Though she knows not what is to be, she’s happily enjoying the ride.
It was my pleasure and honor to ride with her through Laguna for a few hours one morning…
of course, had to grab a few with Dad…
