It’s Monday. The first week of September. And I’m sitting at my desk in my pj’s still…wondering how the morning went by so fast. And then I look at the calendar and see Labor Day and the weddings I’m shooting this month and I’m wondering how did this year go by so fast? And then I think about my finances and my sessions booked and the sessions I’ve still to book and January and projecting and planning and traveling and I’m wondering…how is life going by so fast?

It’s Monday. The first week of September. And I’m closer to 30 than 20. I’m closer to solid than soft. I’m closer to successful than starting out. I think I’m closer to Truth than confusion. The calendar is closer to 2011 than 2009 and I’m closer to understanding that The Now is a better place to dwell than the Then.

It’s Monday. The first week of September. What are you wondering? What are you closer to this week?

Ashley - I’m wondering when my job will get more interesting and my life will get more exciting. I’m closer to understanding both…I’m closer to knowing that not knowing is okay…

Sean P. - i’m closer to another beer and wondering how long it’ll take to be served!

Bran Muffins - Im wondering when my time will come. the time when im wrapped up in so much love that it it doesnt hurt. when the tightness of too much is love is filled with not enough love. and then i realize that i feel that every day, every morning and with every smile i am wrapped in so much love. thank you for your words, your guidance, and your friendship.

Christie and Kevin totally rocked my world last month. Their wedding was spectacular, from Christie’s beaming smile and hug hello at the hotel, to Kevin’s air guitar dance moves during the first dance to their beautiful friends and family and the heartfelt words they shared during the toasts…I teared up more than I’d like to admit and I enjoyed every second of their day.

I knew Kevin in college, and had shot him a time or two for some assignment here or there. He was a good looking guy then, and I honestly think he made my pictures better back when I knew so little about this craft. He believed in me though, and thought of me first when their wedding planning began. I felt honored.

I met Christie over lunch last year and knew right away that she was perfect for Kevin. She was ridiculously cute and kind and looked at Kevin with such compassion that told me a lot about their relationship even though I knew nothing of it yet. She opened up to me and my camera right away during our engagement session and showed me a sweeter side of being in love. I felt inspired.

And shooting their wedding in July made me again feel honored and inspired. Their love is pure and wholehearted and totally where I’d like to be some day. ‘With all of you here today,’ Christie had said to her guests at dinner, ‘I’m in heaven. This is my heaven, with all of you that I love.’

It felt like heaven to me too.

Liz - yay!!! These came out so great Jackie. Ummm why are they so beautiful? I’m so glad I was there to share this with you. xo

Last week Nicole and Dave flew me up to their beautiful little city full of fog to shoot an engagement session. I think they were thinking they’d get some rad pictures. But I was thinking I’d get to know them and their relationship a little better…and we all were right.

I spent the night with them drinking Irish coffees and the morning drinking chai tea sitting on their couch with Nicole while we both worked on our laptops. Nicole raised the roof in the middle of the day, just because she felt it like it. When Dave got home, we relaxed a bit before heading up to the roof, just moments after fog had consumed the downtown view. No problem, we had a cactus. After making them a little too uncomfy a little too close to the edge (all in the name of a good shot!), we went to Dolores Park and laid in the sun soaked grass. Me too, of course (did ya’ll see my groovy action shot on Facebook?). Then an ‘extra’ with 7 foot dreads (literally) got in our way, so we relocated and finished in front of a church before wrapping for dinner. It was delightful to get to capture a bit of Dave and Nicole in that city that captures so much of who they are.

They are a dynamic couple with such amazing energy. Dave has kind and open energy that lifts you up every time he lifts his brow. Nicole has orange energy that is contagiously happy and exciting. And my sweet friend Knudsen who helped us out by assisting…contributed his layers of awesome energy as well. Then of course I have good energy. I know this, because I feel it every day. Don’t ask me to describe it though.

I can describe how great this couple is, however! And it’s better with images than with words…

After Lindsay calmed down after finding her rings, her wedding day went on to be smooth sailing complete with a Del Taco run and a dance lesson to the Thriller choreography.

Lindsay was a beautiful bride. And everyone always says that, I know, but she truly shone unlike any bride I’d ever seen. First of all, she’s GORGEOUS, so that was nice. But mainly, she was HAPPY. And it shined out of her eyes and scented from her pores and created a warm and vibrant glow throughout every room she entered. It/she/everything was truly beautiful.

Then there was Drew. Who doesn’t necessarily like his picture being taken. Who hasn’t ever really given my lens a solid smile, by choice anyway. Who lit up bigger and brighter and more freely than I’d ever seen…the second Lindsay walked into the room. I saw him look at her that Saturday…with adoration, appreciation, respect…and joyful love. And I got my solid smiles.

Here are a few to wet your whistle while I finish processing…

Yesterday I shot an amazing couple in this crisp white city. Engagement session. I cannot wait to process the images and share. They are going to be bomb diggity. Delish. Nopalito style.

When my flight takes off, I’ll say, I left my heart in San Francisco. When I get home to my poodle puff and my family I’ll say, I love it here.

Here, there, everywherrrrree…
