Laguna Beach Wedding at Pacific Edge and Crescent Bay Park

She took a deep breath as the last of her make up was applied. Her dress was out of its bag, her shoes and jewelry laid out and the clock ticking fast. The time was drawing near and her nerves were beginning to mount.

Two doors down, her fiance lounged with his groomsmen in t-shirts and shorts. The ocean breeze wafted through their door while sports highlights slid through the tv. I suggested that Jason start to get ready. His bride was just about there.

After Erin’s dress was on and the finishing touches done, she walked next door to meet her waiting groom. All the worry washed away as soon as they were in each others arms. ‘If there’s anything I’m more grateful than to wake up in this beautiful life every day,’ Jason said later during his vows, ‘it’s that I get to wake up next to you.’ The couple are clearly perfect together, and it showed in every smile, every embrace and every second of their wedding day that went by way too fast last weekend.

And that’s what happens on your wedding day; it flies. Erin and Jason were smart enough to slow down and savor some moments throughout the day and I was happy to see that. I’m also happy I was there to capture the rest of the moments for them to savor for years to come. Especially those stellar dance moves later in the night…

😛

After some fine tuning, Tina and Jim’s engagement photo guestbook for their wedding turned out awesome!

All of our custom designed wedding albums and guest books go through a proofing process so that you  are 100% satisfied with the images, layout and overall feel. When designing guest books like the spreads shown here, we maintain lots of negative/blank space for your guests to have plenty of room to sign around your photos. In wedding albums, the images are printed larger. Overall, we keep our design clean and classic so that your images shine. And look at these two do just that!

Tina and Jim, we’re so excited to document your elegant affair this weekend in Newport! I hope I can remember to sign your guest book. 😉

Photography Tips | Image Resolution

PINME

So many people inquire about the difference between low-resolution images and high-resolution images, I thought I’d write a little posty on it.

First let’s talk about pixels. Pixels (tiny dots of color) are the unit of measurement for any rendered image. The computer monitor you’re reading this on most likely renders images at 72 dpi (dots per inch). In other words, a single line of pixels across a 20-inch monitor is going to have 1,440 (72×20) pixels of color. No matter how big or small the monitor, most screens render at 72 dpi.

Most professional printers use images that render at 300 dpi. There are way more pixels and the dots are much smaller, which is necessary for creating crisp, clean lines in the print process. Because of this higher amount of dots/pixels needed, it creates larger file sizes for the images.

Which brings us to resolution, which is the detail an image holds. Resolution is identified by the width and height of the image as well as the total number of pixels in the image. So a low resolution image has less detail, less pixels and consequently a much smaller file size than the high-resolution images we create to showcase all that beautiful detail in your eyes and smile. We shoot everything at high-resolution, and deliver high-resolution files to our professional printer to create beautiful prints for you.

The low-resolution images that are included with your session and available online are optimized for speedy and efficient device/computer/web usage. They are not suitable for printing. Technically you can ‘enlarge’ the image using Photoshop or an image editing program, but what you end up doing is enlarging the size of the pixels, which creates blurry images. Because the software tries to figure out which pixels to increase and make up the difference between 72 and 300, you get what we call ‘artifacts’ or blocks of color that look unnatural. No matter how advanced your software is or how good it may look to your eye, there is always a loss in quality.

And at Lovato Images we stand for high quality, awesome work! So if you must print larger than 4×6, please let us help you. We can order enlargements for you or help you purchase the few high-resolution image files that you need to make all your printing dreams come true.

Temecula Valley Wedding | Mount Palomar Winery

Amy and Kyle got married in the most amazing wedding weekend imaginable. Picture this: blue skies with creamy clouds stretching as far as the eye can see, ripe vineyards rustling lightly in the gentle breeze, friends, family, free time and of course, so much wine. I’m suddenly sorry I didn’t show up for the festivities on Friday and stay through Sunday.

Well had Amy and Kyle met me before they hired me as their wedding photographer, I’m sure I would have made the guest list. 😛 At any rate, I was overjoyed and honored to be there and witness the love, respect and complete adoration for each other and for life that this awesome couple has. They live life to the fullest and they do so grounded in the security of the Greatest love. It’s couples like Amy and Kyle that make the nonbelievers believe. Their love and fire for life is contagious.

Thanks for giving us all something to strive for, Woodys. And thanks for a fantastic party!

Their mornings started at two private estates in Temecula that the bridal party stayed at for the weekend…

Amy’s girls wanted to show Bridesmaids how it’s really done…

Then they moved to the stunning Mount Palomar Winery for the wedding…

Loved their details…wine cork place card holders, a custom made map for their guests to sign, a beautiful box to hold the wine they’ll drink on their first anniversary and of course lovely florals by Tropical Blossoms

After the gorgeous ceremony atop Mt Palomar’s highest hill, Amy and Kyle slipped into the vineyards for a few quick portraits as the sun sank behind the cypress trees…

It’s very rare anymore that I sit at my computer until sleep tugs at my eyes and the day finishes just the way it began, with work. People ask how is work how is business are you busy how is life and my response lately has been ringing the same fun tune: so good, so balanced, so good. Two years ago my best friend moved in and I started stopping my work day at 6pm when she would come home, then another best friend moved in and I’ve got to report my personal life has never felt more nurtured and more fulfilled [with the five us here now].

And there’s something to be said for that. I sit here tonight, at 11:15, wine glass dwindling, sleep evading, goals a-blazing and I reminisce on all those nights where I did this every night. My personal life was my business and my business was personal and where there should have been lines all bled into one another like tempranillo on tissue paper. Now I start with my pen, outline this part and that, color in there and here and create the life I want, one sip, one brush stroke at a time.

And that’s not to say that it’s not just business anymore and it’s not all personal either. I guess what I’m trying to say is I’ve come a long way. And I’m so so thankful for the journey and even more thankful for the journey that’s to come. Mostly I’m thankful for the clarity to appreciate each moment and the depth to remember to give thanks for it all. Blurred, slurred lines and all.
