Fun Engagement Photos in Orange

Lynsi and Robert are a fantastic couple who I felt super lucky to get to photograph a couple weeks back. The kind of couple you just feel more solid being around. They are committed, driven, laid back and a whole lotta fun. What a combination right?

We met in Old Towne Orange, where they live and hang out frequently to do some fun engagement photos in an urban scene. Then we headed to Peter’s Canyon to catch the golden rays as they kissed the tall straw that our thirsty land keeps giving us. I wish it’d rain more, but I’m thankful for the beauty our State keeps sharing through this tough time. Also thankful for such rad couples I get to work with like Lynsi and Robert!

Happy July!

Dave turned 60 last week and his family threw him a fantastic surprise birthday party to celebrate. It was held at a ranch in Orange and country western themed so everyone showed up with their hats and boots ready to rock. The event was designed by Believe It Wedding and Events and not a detail was missed for the boot stompin’ good time. Happy birthday, Dave!

Yorba Linda Family Photography

Happy 2nd Birthday, Eamonn! This little dude turns two today and we celebrated the milestone with a family photography session last week. Well, a little more than half of the family anyway. Dad was in Texas working and his little sister hasn’t made her debut yet, so Eamonn and his mommy got out to soak up some SoCal sun with me.

It was a gorgeous day with the most delicious light and Eamonn hammed it up for the camera. Just look at all of those fun expressions! Or maybe that’s not him being hammy, maybe it’s him just being the perceptive, talkative, thoughtful and enthusiastic little man that he is. I thoroughly enjoyed my time with him and am happy to celebrate his birthday with this reminder of who he is today! Happy day, Eamonn!

Oh! And congrats to Mom and Dad for the baby girl on the way! Of course we had to take a few maternity portraits of Mommy… 🙂

Photography Classes

Some of you may recall a post I wrote a year ago about a hankering I had to do more. Such an odd thing for Jackie to say, right? Hah.

Well this particular desire was finally fulfilled this past spring as I took on my latest (and maybe someday greatest?) role: Instructor. I started teaching Photo 101 at Cypress College and I couldn’t be more excited about the job. In typical Jackie fashion, I bit off more than I could chew, and fortunately figured out how (and carved out the time necessary to learn) to do so. It was a full couple of months as I created an entire semester of content from scratch, revisited topics I hadn’t considered since my beginning days, studied human interaction and student engagement, and wholeheartedly took on a part time teaching job while running a business and slowly building another one. Call me Crazy.

But I’m Crazy in love with teaching! As I knew I would be. I knew it’d be challenging and uplifting beyond anything I’d ever done and I was right. I’ve been majorly spread thin the first half of this year but every moment was worth it. The teaching moments and Lovato and Her Lovely Images moments and personal moments combined. Life is so so good.

I went into the semester with one goal: make an impact on just one set of eyes, on just one soul. I hoped to change just one person’s life for the better. And with the feedback from my students, fellow instructors and staff, I just might have surpassed that goal. Doing more and doing it well. Kyrie eleison!
