Santa Cruz Engagement Photos

Megan and Stephen have been dating for five years now, and everyone is thrilled that they are finally going to get hitched. They were friends even before that, their story starting junior year of high school. They hung around together developing what neither of them knew would become a lifelong bond.

When Stephen came back from his tour in Iraq, he set out on a new mission. Megan was recently single so he invited her to a sibling’s birthday party. Megan thought it was just a friendly gathering, but Stephen put her on the spot and asked her out on a date the following week. She accepted and they haven’t turned back.

For their engagement photos, we started at the end of the Santa Cruz Wharf where Stephen proposed. As they laughed and cruised around together, the effortlessness of their love was obvious. They’ve had the years to mature together and I’m so excited to document their wedding this summer. Because sometimes you just know when it’s right, and this is definitely one of those times. 🙂

Senior Photos in Orange

Amber just graduated from Cal State Long Beach with a masters in Gerontology. Go Amber!

We cruised around the Orange Circle to celebrate her success with some senior portraits. Her energy was bright and her eyes sparkled in the afternoon sun as I documented this beauty during this beautiful time in her life. Congrats, Amber. Thanks for a great sesh!

Yorba Linda Wedding at Black Gold Golf Club

“How are you feeling?” I asked AJ as we waited in the garden for his bride. “Nervous,” he replied earnestly. Really, I thought. This charming, confident man who was marrying the woman he adored more than anything, was nervous?

But his answer put it back in perspective for me. This was a big day, huge, and AJ didn’t take it lightly. I appreciated that about him. This quick witted, fun guy was sentimental. He was sincere. He was about to commit his life to the most amazing woman in the world and he didn’t take an ounce of it for granted.

When Laila came out to greet him, it was clear she felt exactly the same. She wiped her eyes as she giggled and twirled and hugged her groom. This was the moment they had been waiting for and with lots of laughter, a few tears, and a boatload of awesome dancing, the pair relished every moment of their day.

Congratulations, Laila and AJ. It was an honor and joy to celebrate with you.

Wedding Photographers Fun Creative Shoot in Red Rock

As an artist, I often get the itch. It’s not quite an itch though, not really a tickle either…I guess it’s somewhere between tummy flutters and a small ache in the chest. It’s a push and a pull and a cry and a whisper that calls to go create. I’ve been feeling that a lot lately and I’m thankful I’ve been able to carve out some time to respond.

A few months back a couple artists and I headed out to the auburn hills of Red Rock, NV for our own creation station. I loaded up some film and inhaled deeply as the light spilled over the land into our lenses. This is what it’s all about, I thought to myself. Friends, nature, cameras, Light…life. When we’ve got it this good, how can we not jump up with an awesome answer?

Tonight I find myself sitting at my computer at 10pm on a Sunday night, with heavy eyes, tired feet and a heart so full I wonder how my chest can contain it. I have spent the last four days working nonstop. Like, nonstop. And the next six aren’t going to slow down one bit. I can’t help but smile as I think of people complaining of how tired they are after ‘working all week,’ in their 9 to 5’s. Now I get that clocking in and out for The Man can be draining, but my schedule lately has been ridic. And I’ve loved every second of it.

You see, this camera of mine, this craft I’ve developed, has really been a vehicle for me. It’s driven me to greater plains, higher peaks and more pivotal points in my journey than anything else has. I owe so much to photography and to my business. So much that, when there are days like these, that bleed together and fill up to weigh me down and take every inch out of me… I can’t complain. I love what I do. I love where it’s taken me. I love all I’ve experienced and seen through this lens of Lovato Images. I’ve loved every second of it.

So what if I’m sleep deprived. So what if I’m majorly overdue for a pedicure. So what if my room is a mess with laundry overflowing. So what if I have to work to the wee hours on a Sunday night to catch up. I will balance it out next week. I will take a nap and buy more panties and paint my toes later. ‘Cause I’m loving every second of the craziness right now. This is my life. And I love every second.

Thanks, Camera. I am who I am and I love how I love because of what you’ve shown me. You crazy metal and glass box, You. Heart you. <3
