Lauren and Shane’s Ponte Winery wedding was magnificent in every way, except for [arguably] the wind. I personally am a wind fan, so I was loving it, especially when it was lifting Lauren’s veil and whispering into her curls to add extra oomph for our pictures. Anyone that was there that day will tell you though, there was no whispering. That wind was straight yelling.

Lauren and Shane were troopers though, and didn’t let the blustery afternoon affect their day. They exchanged vows and committed to stand by one another through all the drafts and storms of life. The crystal chandelier that hung above their ceremony danced and sparkled in the heavy gusts, just as Lauren and Shane danced and sparkled in their new union. Like the deep rooted vines they stood beside to marry, this couple is as strong and steadfast as they come. Thanks for the opportunity to stand by your side, you two. Honored to be a part…

How is it [[[THE END OF]]] October already?

I started writing this blog post 29 days ago, griping about how I never got a tan, how I didn’t get to wear my new suit, and how somehow the rush of summer slipped seamlessly into fall. I haven’t had time to stop at all. Not even to finish this blog post…

And now it’s pumpkin colored toe nails and soup and scarves and wet pavement on soft skied morning walks with little sweatered dogs. In a few short weeks it’ll be Thanksgiving then Christmas and before you know it, I’ll be sixty before. Time just flies so fast these days.

I think it’s important during these especially busy times to slow down. My mom always tries to remind me of that. I am majorly guilty of getting caught up in it and racing, racing and the trees and flowers and sides of the road fly by in a blur. We all do it. This thing called Life is so amazing and thick with responsibilities and details that it’s easy to get in go-mode with your head down. But stop every once in awhile, and slow down. If it’s to smell a dew kissed rose, read a few pages in that book you haven’t been able to get to, or just sit on your couch and think, do it. Slow down a little, and let yourself enjoy this sure to be very merry holiday season.

Earlier this month at Lauren and Shane’s Ponte wedding: a moment where I slowed down to look at Light, with my lovely counterpart.

Here’s a sneak peak from a maternity shoot last week in San Clemente. We did some intimate portraits of her lovely little belly, so no promise of posting more. We’ll see what mama-to-be says. But IF you’re lucky, I’ll share some more from this fantastic set.

Happy Friday, ya’ll!

Jessica and James were married at their Hillside Farm wedding in Norco, Horsetown USA, in the most charming, rustic, cowboy country wedding I’ve ever seen. It was a fantastic compilation of rugged personal details, solid family values and cowboy boot stomping good times.

Jessica arrived a few minutes late but was calm and collected. She was ready to marry the cowboy of her dreams. James buttoned up his shirt and vest and casually finished getting ready as his friends laughed and sang songs. There was no stress on this day; they all knew. This city girl was made for their cowboy.

Jessica and James’ love is one that inspires, uplifts and encourages others that love like this exists. The way James and Jessica look at each other and hold each other and simply touch each other communicates so much about their love, but what really sealed the deal for me was when the speeches came around. Their friends and family went on and on about how outstanding these two are as individuals and how even better they are together. It was clear to all, they were made for one another.

Hillside Farm is a totally groovy little hidden gem in Norco where they’ve recreated a old country western town complete with a saloon and general store. The details around this place were amazing.

Props to Jessica and James for creating tons of awesome little hand painted signs throughout their wedding decor, but major props to Hillside for this fun wood sign that hangs all the time!

Any bride that wears boots under her dress is a bride I wanna be around. 😛

I love how everyone gathered for a prayer before the ceremony.

Such a sweet moment as her daddy gave her away…

Back to the details, a garden in a bed frame? I love you, Hillside!

Okay guys, hey, look over here!

I LOVED the lace peeking out from the top (and bottom!) of Jessica’s dress. So classic.

But then back to the details by Jessica and James…how fun are their custom mason jars and pie tins for plates? So country!

I’m sorry but I’m just a sucker for weddings. Even for the coolest bride and the most laid back groom, they’re emotional and spiritual and amazing. I’m lifted, every time.

Okay I’m not sorry. I’m not sorry that Lauren and Shane are amazing. I’m not sorry that I just HAD to be at their Catholic wedding two weekends ago at St. Juliana’s in Fullerton. I’m not sorry that it was simple and intimate and amazing. I’m not sorry I love what I do and I love the people I work with like Lauren and Shane!

Here’s a few images from their first wedding to hold you over until I can post some from their second…details to follow…

😛
