Who remembers the epic destination wedding in Rome we shot two Octobers ago? Karoline and Andrew sure do! We were all stoked when In Bliss Weddings wanted to feature their romantic Italian wedding on their blog.

Karoline and Andrew’s wedding was definitely the most romantic and intimate wedding I’ve had the honor of photographing. With just 27 guests, overlooking ancient Rome from the rooftop of the Hotel Forum, it was an experience to remember forever. On In Bliss Weddings, Karoline shares some of her own experiences about the most amazing day of her life…check it out!

i awoke to a morning today that greeted me sweetly, with a senseless serenity dripping with honey and warm white tea.

i stepped outside and the trees called to me with rustling leaves and dancing branch.

down the road, a flock of green parrots dotted the thick sky,

pricking the haze with their citing cries.

i smiled at the day, and she smiled back. too early to say yet where we would go, but knowing however we went, it was going to be a delightful show.

I just, I just don’t know what to say…

I guess I should start by commenting on how darling Hannah and Dave are…as individuals and even more so as a couple. I met them a few years back after they got engaged here in the States. But their wedding in England was where I got to really spend time with them and get to know them which is (needless) to say, to adore them. They are fun and cute and witty and kind and outgoing and FUNNY and everything good you can think a young English couple would be.

Then I must comment on the deliciously creamy and beautifully bright light that little English island has to offer. I was giddy with excitement every time I stepped outdoors into the crisp air and fantastic light. God really does shine it down good up there and He gave it to us real good last Saturday. You couldn’t have asked for a more perfect day.

Then I have to just make one mention of how RAD it was to celebrate Hannah and Dave’s union in the same church that Dave’s parents married in, that dates back to 1301! The building itself was rebuilt in 1763 but holy cow the history! I can’t tell you how amazing it was to be on those grounds, standing beside those bricks who have stood through so much.

Okay so people, Light, location. Dang what a day! What can I say?! Here’s a few portraits from the slideshow I threw together Saturday night at their reception. Patience you little Muffin Cakes, full post to come soon.

to a client via email:

“here’s the thing, Stephanie: we ALL have body issues. you might think my frame looks amazing, but i’m secretly wishing i had a more voluptuous chest and a booty like yours. i feel my arms are too big. you feel your legs are too thick. we all struggle with our body image because our society is so soaked with it. we see the airbrushed paper thin models everywhere and we think we should look like that too. our perception of beauty is tainted by mass communication, so we look past our own beautiful traits and long for this false reality that’s been shoved down our throats. there’s no getting around it.

but we can get through it. and doing a boudoir session like this is a daring and direct step. you’re forced to look hard at yourself, with less clothing, with less subtlety, and stare at yourself bare. it can be difficult…but as you said…taking a second look, you see it more for the beauty we created together, and less for what you think society thinks you should be. but what you ARE, Stephanie, is amazing. you are an attractive, spirited, creative, compassionate and caring mother, a supportive wife and backbone to your family. you have larger breasts and a softer tummy (than society says), better for cradling your babies. you have strong arms, better for holding up your man. you have sturdy legs, best for supporting yourself and pushing through the highs and lows of life.

i think your body is beautiful and i am SO EXCITED about the beauty we created together with your boudoir photos in that cold, empty house. pms is annoying. so is society. ill get off my soapbox now and continue loving life and loving this session with you. sorry for the rant. i guess my own issues were coming out there too.

basically, i’m with ya mama. let’s get on with it and SHINE like we were meant to.”
