Bethany is an artist passionate about helping people share their important textured memories. All memories are made of layers and levels that tend to get lost in the tides of life, as they are slowly worn down to smooth stones. Bethany helps keep them sharp by using symbols and personal elements from your lives as she paints in her unique textured and layered style, recreating your story in canvas to be enjoyed forever. Her pieces are significant and stunning.

Bethany’s Commemory Art specializes in love story artwork that make beautiful gifts as decor at weddings, anniversary parties or the holidays, then to be enjoyed in the home forever after. She recently did a set of companion pieces for a bride and her mother of their dresses. A piece for each of them, textured and layered with the colors of the wedding and floral decor of the spectacular Grand del Mar wedding in San Diego produced by Mindy Weiss. Both gorgeous gowns were designed by Andrea’s Couture in Corona del Mar. And with a lasting textured memory of the day as decor in both the mother and daughter’s homes with a united connection, each will have a forever memory that can be passed down for generations.

Andrea is now offering Commemory Art pieces with preferred pricing through her boutique. The ladies had me come photograph last week to showcase their fantastic work…

Bethany Thomas - What a wonderful perspective of my work – I couldn’t have said it better. I absolutely love your work and how it captures mine. Thank you.

Miguel Alejandro could quite possibly thee cutest thing since sliced bread. Wait, is sliced bread cute? Maybe I should eat him with a spoon? Whatever, he’s great and at 3 months, he is already a ladies man. Dressed dapper with his fo-hawk and ties, he had me swooning.

Just look at those dark doe eyes and perfectly plump little lips! His inquisitive glances and giddy prances (though they were more like chair dancing prancing as he’s still stationary) had my heart melted into a puddle on the floor 25 seconds in the door. Mary and Miguel have been fantastic clients of mine since their engagement photography session last year followed by their amazing summer wedding. I was thrilled when Mary called me to document her pregnancy with maternity portraits and then again to photograph her handsome new man! I went to their home last month to do some family photography as well as take some studly shots of the little guy and all his fun stuff: his dad’s tie (too cute!), his own bow tie (adorbs), some St. John Bosco football gear (cause he will be a ball player, don’t get it twisted) and of course, part of daddy’s cop uniform (stud-to-be!).

I seriously could eat him with a spoon.

Boudoir pictures don’t have to be taken nude or even in lingerie. Boudoir pictures don’t have to be in the bedroom or even in the home. A boudoir photo session is whatever you want to make it and I’m open to all suggestions!

I think boudoir photos are important for every woman. It’s an opportunity to let loose and love yourself a little bit more. You get your make up and hair done, you put on something you feel great in then shine in all the lovely light available. It’s a ridiculously fun experience and we create some ridiculously rad images in the process.

To illustrate a fresh idea for boudoir pictures, I’m sharing some images from a personal project I shot teamed with the amazing photographer, Chad Sengstock of ISHOT Photography. We got access to a grungy garage, a gorgeous girl and a very talented hair/make-up artist to collaborate for some fun photos. Boudoir literally means ‘the woman’s private room,’ so if yours is the bathroom, an office or a garage, we’ll rock it!

Photographers, Lighting and Concept: Chad Sengstock of ISHOT Photography and Jackie Lovato of Lovato Images

Location: Earll’s Garage in Anaheim

Make up/Hair: Charity Gant

*Special Note: the whole premise of this shoot, beyond the desire to do something fun and different, was to photograph my beloved Camaro. I love that car! I was planning to sell it, and this was my bon voyage photo shoot with it. Thanks again, Earll’s for taking care of her for so long and for letting us use your space!

Hannah - Just gorgeous Jackie. What a great shoot! Fun idea and beautiful girl.

Sometimes the phone rings or an email comes in about a job and you get really excited. Such was the case with this fab family.

Like, stop it these girls are WAY too cute. I can’t get enough of their giggles and skips and jumps and climbing on tree stumps. They were two balls of energy that left me jazzed on life. Their parents are just as beautiful on the inside as they are on the outside, so as you can imagine, this family portrait session was just as awesome as these fun photos look.

carie - love this session! you can feel the laughter. the outfits are too great!!! love!! i want to go here!! beautiful family

Lydia and Chris came to me as a gift. And I mean this in more than one way.

Lydia’s brother and I met awhile back and he knew right away a portrait session would be the perfect gift for his sister and her husband who have done so much for him.

Then I met Lydia and Chris for portraits at Heisler Park in Laguna Beach and I realized I was in for a treat myself. Chris is an engineer, architect, designer and craftsman with Lydia as the marketing director and co-founder of their design firm, and the couple just oozed innovation and creative expression. They brought a design Chris has spent his entire career fine tuning, seeking images that highlighted the chair, displayed it’s artistic elements and of course, included them. Such a shift from the family portraits I thought I was in for!

The shoot was fun and fantastic and both Lydia and Chris and myself and my assistant were pleased. It was creative collaboration at it’s finest and I was again reminded that when we work together to produce something unique and unlike anything we could have done on our own, it can be the greatest gift of all.

Carie - Love, love, love the composition of this image. In a shot like this, I’m struggling with getting the people “lit” enough, without getting the background too light & washed out. Pointers?
    thx
