San Francisco Engagement Portraits | Mel and Jeff

Melanie and Jeffrey are two of the coolest cats you might meet. I feel like they would do really well living in California as laid back as they are…

I met Melanie when I was 16 in the Valley High School volleyball program. We were the two young Tigers on the team, both of us both playing varsity and jv. Then we hooked up again on the west coast years later at Cal St Fullerton as I was doing stats for her as a Titan. Then years after that, she stumbled across my blog and has been following it since. What a small world!

Small yet big enough to support these two and their love and dreams. Mel and Jeff are living in separate states as they study medicine and orthodontics and I was fortunate to catch them together in the Bay a few weeks back while Mel was interviewing at Stanford. Then our first (shooting) location was closed and we had to scramble for another plan. But Mel and Jeff rolled with it, even when they parked a mile a way and were sweating by the time they got to our second portion of the sesh. They’re just cool cats, I tell ya!*

So we enjoyed ourselves for awhile at the Wattle Creek Winery in Ghirardelli Square and made our way over to Crissy Field for some of the prettiest light San Francisco could have offered. I’m SO excited to work with Mel and Jeff again come their Iowa wedding in May!

*some points to consider: 1, No photoshopping was done [to eliminate sweat] in these photos; these two really are just that cool! 2, Liz from Elizabeth Zuluaga Photography joined us joined us for this sesh and is responsible for the awesome kiss shot where Mel’s pulling Jeff’s tie; thanks Liz! 3, Isn’t Mel so long and lovely? She’s super tall! But so tiny around the waist and I just love it when Jeff wraps his arms all around her and holds her close. Adorbs. And finally 4, I’m obsessed with wine and love it when my clients are too. Thanks Wattle Creek for letting us shoot in your awesome tasting room!
