This week I did an editorial shoot for ZUMA Press with Bruno Serato, owner and lead chef at the Anaheim White House restaurant. I was excited immediately at the job offer, because the restaurant is beautiful and DELISH and to get to get inside that kitchen…c’mon. All my Facebook friends know I’m a sucker for good food…
But then I read Bruno’s story. The Italian born and raised chef has been cooking and donating pasta dinners to underprivileged kids in Anaheim for the last five years, even as his business struggles to stay afloat. Serving hundreds of children six days a week, Serato is now giving away more meals than he sells.
And then I met Bruno. And the warmth in his handshake, the openness in his eyes, the compassion in his kitchen…I immediately forgot about good food and thought only about good people and the good heart inside this man that’s been giving so much.
If you’d like to check out more, google Bruno Serato and read more better written more informed awesome articles on his story. Or contact the Anaheim White House and contribute to his story by donating pasta and/or money. 714.772.1381
