Growing up Together in Yorba Linda | Fouts Family Photos

Andrea was one of my first friends in the second grade. I remember some of our first interactions in the shade below Mrs. Clements’ classroom, where we soon discovered our shared interests in playing dress up, singing and still creating Barbie kingdoms on our bedroom floors (playing with dolls had somehow become ‘uncool’ in our matured age, but we both still loved it #foreveryoungatheart).

Our families ended up buying homes on the same street, joining the same church and spending holidays together and every bridge crossing in all the kinds of weather. Basically, we grew up together. And now Andrea and her husband Derrick are growing their own family.

Introducing Nicholas. He a ball of inquisition, charm, raised eyebrows, Agape, and the biggest grin you’ve ever seen. At sixteen months, he’s already shaping up to be one fine fellow and I know a huge part of that can be attributed to all the time Andrea and I spent ‘playing house’ as kids, preparing ourselves for motherhood one nurturing Barbie hug at a time. Kidding. Kind of.

So while I’ve still got plenty of time to hone my parenting skills, Andrea and Derrick are off and at ’em with Niko. This darling dude is such a joy and I’m excited to continue our growing up together with his smile in the mix.
