With this little heat wave we’ve been having here in SoCal, I was reminded about a sweaty shoot I did with some of my favorite clients back in July. Though it wasn’t 99 degrees outside, we heated up their living room to just about that trying to keep two-week old Liana Mae as comfortable as could be in her birthday suit.
Brooke and Charlie hit me up weeks into their pregnancy last year for a maternity and newborn shoot. I was thrilled to be of the first thoughts in their planning, and again thrilled to get to shoot the miracle of Brooke’s pregnancy back in May. I really am amazed at the ability of a woman’s body to grow a child. It never ceases to bring chills to my skin and warmth to my heart.
Then I got to meet little Liana Mae. What a doll! A lot of people say ‘aw, how cute,’ to newborns but they’re really fibbing. Cause let’s be honest, not all newborns are cute. Some of them look funky. Weird. Un-humanly even sometimes. Right?
But not Liana. She was perfect from fuzz on head to never-been-clipped toes. Her little face. Her bum. The way she breathed. Her pouty lips while she slept. She is pure perfection and I couldn’t be happier for Charlie and Brooke.
The three of us sweat it up for two hours while we blasted the heater so Liana would stay comfy all nakey. It worked! She was a peaceful little pumpkin pie during our shoot and I’m pleased to (belatedly) present to you Liana Mae, born on June 28, 2011.
