I’m not big on New Year’s resolutions. You resolve to do something… because it’s a fresh year? because people say it’s good to do? Why not resolving to do something, to make yourself better, achieve more, grow…any other time of the year? This whole January resolution thing seems to fade out too fast. So I like to think of myself as more of a goal setter rather than a resolution forgetter.
With that being said, I do tend to set some extra goals during this fine first month we currently share. And this week I set one I’m pretty excited about: create one thoughtful image per day. I want to focus more on consciousness, being fully present and extending my creativity beyond its current reach. I am a huge supporter of putting the camera down and being fully engaged in the moment. But I also want to pick the camera up and fully experience life through thoughtful image capture. Seven times a week.
The rain today was reminiscent of some reflective images I shot several weeks ago. As the wet day slipped into night, I walked around Old Towne Orange with a camera in my hand and photography lessons in my heart. I don’t do that enough and definitely plan to do it more. Going through these shots was a good start to this good goal this year.
Cheers to you and yours (your goals, that is).
