Mrs. Peel,

I made a goal the other day to ‘track down someone who has influenced you,’ and I set to it immediately. Now that I have an email address that might be yours, I’ve halted, lost in thought as to what I would say to you if I actually did track you down. Which I might have.

As I wade around in the memories of your beautiful smile and your understanding eyes, I see you standing in front of our classroom, a gentle but firm guide to our little eight year old flock. You lead by example. You explained yourself once and we got it. We understood, because you did. You were direct but sincere, steady but with a tenderness along with it.

You taught me so much that year. You taught me what a responsible and spirited woman looks like. You taught me that good rules are good to follow and that order creates an easiness to life. You taught me that I can forgive myself when I make mistakes and that it’s okay to feel the feelings that sometimes creep in, even if they’re not always positive. You validated me and the person I was at eight. It’s okay to be me, you taught me.

Maybe some of those things I really learned along the way as I walked my road and paved my own paths. But the passion of your spirit has been with me throughout the journey, even if I haven’t always reflected on it. I have always looked back at that year you were my teacher and remembered your lessons. Lessons in compassion, forgiveness, forward thinking, drive and diligence…and the biggest, the lesson of your passion itself. I will never stop learning and growing. You transferred your passion for that to me.

So as I reach out to you, Mrs. Peel, the one thing I want you to know is that you changed me. Your passion for life, for learning and for sharing stuck with me. Sure I’ve developed further and grown more beyond your little classroom, but it really started there. So thank you. THANK YOU. Your positive and engaging ways are still with me today.

Sincerely,

Jackie Lovato

Old Towne Orange Engagement Photos

Sarah and Chris met many years ago through Nicole, Chris’ sister. Like, childhood years ago. Sarah and Nicole were besties, and somehow, magically along the way, the light shone a little different on Chris and Sarah and they became besties themselves.

The two couldn’t be better matched. Sarah’s beautiful laugh and boisterous personality perfectly compliment Chris’ steady eyes and genuine spirit. They giggle together constantly and finish each others’ thoughts and sentences as if they were reading off the same menu. They just get each another and balance one another in the sweetest way.

I was super stoked to spend the evening with them strolling through their stomping grounds and my own, Old Towne Orange for their engagement pictures. We started at their favorite spot, Provisions and moved along to the sunny Circle. I can’t wait to document their winery wedding this January! Let the good (and balanced :P) times roll!

Yorba Linda Family Photography

I photographed Katy’s maternity portraits last year and was thrilled when she asked me to do first birthday portraits of her twins. The circle of life, man. I’m obsessed to be able to play such a part of it in so many peoples’ lives.

Jack and Molly are definitely a pair I’m stoked to be in on the circle with! The darling duo made me laugh the entire shoot with their personalities shining every moment. They are just so dang cute! I can’t wait to watch them as they grow but mostly I love that we have them documented just as they are right now.

St. Lawrence Orthodox Church Wedding Photography

Megan was calm, collected and mellow. She sat with her closest girlfriends while her hair was pinned up and her make up done. They chuckled together about this and that as the afternoon continued on and Megan was laced into her dress. Her elegance was effortless.

Stephen was a little nervous as he buttoned up his vest and got help tying his tie. Megan was the love of his life and he was confident to marry her, but anxious. The butterflies in his stomach wouldn’t stop…Until Megan walked up to him under the covered bridge. His nerves vanished as he turned to greet her; she was radiant and he was ready.

An hour later they entered the church together and were crowned with glory in the Orthodox service of marriage. Their entire community surrounded them and wrapped around with prayer, support and love. It was an intimate and moving ceremony as the two joined together as one.

They beamed taking their first steps together as husband and wife and any concern was succeeded with confidence. As the giant chandelier swung above them and God’s grace descended down, we all proclaimed ‘Many years!’

Michelle Kelch - Beautful, stunning, gorgeous photos. I would expect nothing less from the talented Miss Lovato.

This summer has been nonstop and insane and magical and overwhelming and loads of other things. I like to write with run-on sentences and extra adjectives. I love best friends and lots of work and flowers in my hair. I detest bruises and sunburns. I need time with my poodle and time by myself (which also = time with my poodle). I have a feeling that I might have found that elusive balance we all seek in life…

Positive energy is exploding and orange attitudes are attracting themselves to me. Music has been grooving me and people have been moving me and it’s not going to stop. Work is piling itself on me more and more and I can’t complain because I so much enjoy what I do. Summer time and the living’s easy? No way, but it’s so much fun!
