I fortunately haven’t had any of that ‘weird’ness or ‘sad’ness or ‘uncomfy’ ness that a lot of people do upcoming this phase. I’ve been so excited and have enjoyed EVERY second…including the ‘oh shit I can’t drink that much anymore,’ and the ‘wow my body doesn’t handle that so well anymore,’ and the increased skin care and earlier bed times and harder work at the gym. It’s different, but I’m loving it.

I struggled figuring out ‘what to do’ for my birthday this year. I think mostly because I feel special and important and I have fun most days. So when every day is a celebration of life, 30 years to the day that I was born seems like any other day.

I’m happy. And I’m happy to spend some time with family and friends a bit this weekend, but happier still to just have such great people in my life. How can you not love that?

Ten years ago, as two young adults exiting their adolescence, Jonelle and Samuel met on the dance floor at a club. They had a long way to go in life, but after that night they knew they wanted to go together.

They’ve spent the last decade growing and learning as a pair, dancing all the way. They were married at St. Norberts Catholic Church in Orange on a sunny fall day. As the light spilled through the trees late that afternoon, Sam and Jonelle laughed like they never had before. This was the moment they had been waiting for. They had made it, together.

They still like to go out, so their reception was themed like a dance party with amazing lighting by XL Entertainment, touches of passion with red roses and flashes of fun with silver linens. It was a party to remember as everyone danced the night away.

From Astrology.com, Aquarians are visionaries, progressive souls who love to spend time thinking about how things can be better. And for those of you that have read my blog once or twice, you know I’m constantly thinking about progression.

While g-chatting with a [ridiculously amazing] friend the other day, I received an uh-mazing compliment: “You represent true happiness. Cause you’re real…if you struggle with things you don’t hide it but do your best to overcome/see it in the best light possible.” Wow. I felt so honored to be viewed in such a way. But I also felt uplifted knowing the truth in his statement.

Because you see, happiness to me IS about the journey. It’s about the progression. And we all know journeys include rough roads and progression includes tough times. Yea, I complain. More than I’d like to admit. Absolutely I cry. Sure I fall down and get dirty and somehow wade my way out. It’s life.

And it’s lovely. And I’m happy to be doing it. There’s so much beauty around us, people. So much. And YOU have the power to change and redefine what beauty is. The Good Light is all around. Look for it.

Creative Exploration is a friend and a foe. She’ll hold my hand tight and lead me skipping through the trees some days, others her face she’ll never show.

I’ve decided to take her by the waist and walk with my arms around her and not let her go. Not anytime soon anyway. This is my time to grow, and she’s coming with me whether she wants to or not.

Fortunately my good friend Lauren is on the same page. The two of us drove into the luscious hills of Yorba Linda last week for a date with Lady Creativity herself. We grabbed our 35mm slrs, some fresh film and slowly gathered ourselves as the the creamy light spilled all around. Two girls, two cameras, a couple rolls of film and absolutely zero post production. All images are straight from camera.
