Amee and Chris got married at Franciscan Gardens in San Juan Capistrano last month in a heartfelt and harmonious wedding that was centered around prayer. It was absolutely wonderful to be a part of it.
Amee and her mom did most of the planning to create a simple yet elegant event. There were lots of DIY details like the gorgeous Manzanita tree that Amee’s mom put together to stand over them as they married. They just wanted a celebration focused on Chris and Amee and the love they are committing to God.
Without a bridal party, Amee and Chris walked down the aisle hand in hand. They sat together with eyes closed and hearts lifted during the ceremony that consisted of 9 Baha’i readings. The words were full of love and commitment and woven together in a poetic way:
O my Lord! These two bright orbs are wedded in Thy love, conjoined in servitude to Thy Holy Threshold, united in ministering to Thy Cause. Make Thou this marriage to be as threading lights of Thine abounding grace, and luminous rays of Thy bestowals, that there may branch out from this great tree boughs that will grow green and flourishing through the gifts that rain down from Thy clouds of grace.
The ceremony ended with a breathtaking chant in Farsi that was sung by Amee’s aunt. I put down the camera for a moment to close my own eyes and take it all in as chills tickled my arms. I just love what I do, and getting to experience these intimate events with such fabulous people as Amee and Chris and their families is the most delicious cherry on top of my ‘why.’
