Erica is an enthusiastic, hard working and faithful young woman. She’s experienced a lot in her short life, but has done so with cognizance and self reflection so her education seems to far surpass the pieces of paper she holds. She’s introspective, passionate and full of zeal. Her ability to focus and go after her goals is inspiring. I look forward to seeing where she goes as she kicks off her photography career.

These are all things I have learned about Erica in the last 15 weeks. Short chunk of time in the scheme of things, but not too short to understand what she stands for.

She came to me this summer requesting an internship with Lovato Images. Not the first inquiry of its kind nor my first feelings of reluctance for such a petition, but for some reason I entertained the idea and I’m glad I did. As we wrap up this semester and she finishes up her photography program to venture out into the world as a real photographer 😛 – I’m happy to no longer call her an intern, but now a friend.

As the dust settles from a stupendous final weekend of an over the top month, I find myself counting my blessings even more so than I made time to do last week. Even when the tough gets going, I’m conscious that my life is rich beyond measure. I try and keep that wealth in the forefront of my mind, but it’s not always easy.

Life gets hard, man. This year started out fucking awful. And yea, that adjective needs that adjective (sorry Mom). I’m impressed I made it through but at the same time not really cause I somehow always do. It’s the somehows I’m counting now: my partner, a few real friends, several deep conversations, countless doses of nourishment from food, spirituality and wine and the priceless stability I have with my family behind me. No matter how murky the waters get, I’ve got such an incredible base to keep me swimming.

So I’ll keep swimming. Whether it’s in some muddy waters, a glimmering great lake or a fat bowl of leftover gravy, it’s all gravy baby. I’m one fortunate chick and I’m going to keep this thankfulness going all season long! Happy holidays, guys! Let’s wrap up this year with some beautiful bows!

This time of year everything but slow and serene. And yet I find myself today, between scurrying and hurrying to finish that and this, looking forward to all the craziness that’s to come. I long for chilly winter naps covered on the couch and a whole weekend with the whole family together. It’s doubtful either of those will happen this year, yet I sit here so very thankful still.

I’m thankful for work opportunities and a strong mind and body to fulfill them. I’m thankful for my students, and education and all I’ve invested in both. I’m thankful for challenges. I’m thankful for friends who are true. I’m thankful for: long hair, puppy smells, snuggles with my two faves, home, my two faves in it, dinner dates, wine, Grammy time and every fleeting moment I get with it all. Thanksgiving is next week and it’s going to be a race to the finish line, I’m realizing now. I’ll get it all done, and if I don’t…I’ll finish it after. Because even though it’s going to be crazy preparing and cooking and hosting our first… I’m going to savor the shit out of it. I’m going to savor every moment of this beautiful season.

Life’s too good to not count your blessings. This bustling time of year, and always.

Tis the season to be awesome, fa la la la la, la la la la. Oh wait, it’s still November. But dudes, Thanksgiving is in two weeks! How the heck has 2016 raced by so fast?!

At any rate, the holidays are upon us! And I was overjoyed to shoot this fab family a few weeks ago for their holiday photos. How adorable is this little lady and her big brother Lou dog? Love their spunk. Also, I need a pair of those red mary janes in a 9.5 stat.

Get on board folks! If you want family photos yourself, call/email us asap. Very few session times left available.
